Appearance

User guide

Settings → Appearance changes how Matinee looks, never what it does. Every change shows at once, and the standard look is always one tap away.

Everything you use to save, sort, find and keep your videos is free, and stays free: that includes saved views, starter sets and the three looks below. Pro is for making Matinee feel like yours: the themed skins and your own, folder colour packs and icons, layouts, the toolbar icon's colours and export styles. In the pilot, everyone who installs Matinee is a founder and has all of it, for good.

Try it on. Without Pro, choosing a Pro look tries it on: it stays until Chrome closes or you press Put back, with no timer. While you're trying one, a single line at the top of Appearance says so.

Share your look

At the bottom of Appearance: Copy look code (or Save as a file) gives a short code with your skin, colours, layout, toolbar icon, waiting lines and export layout. Never your videos, folders or key. Paste someone else's code and press Preview to see what it would change, then Use this look; Put mine back undoes it.

Starter sets

Folders & tags → Starter sets: ready-made folders with colours and icons for a gardener, cook, musician, learner, maker or fitness fan. It shows what it would add first, never renames or changes a folder you have, and Undo takes the whole set back out.

Folder icons (Pro)

Open Folders & tags, press a folder's name, and pick an icon below the line (or type any emoji). It shows beside the folder's name everywhere: the chips, the sidebar, Home, and the drop targets when you drag a video in.

Saved views

Searched for something, or narrowed to a length or a tag, and want it again? Press Save view (beside the count in the side panel, or at the top of the list on the full page) and give it a name. Your views are in Folders & tags and in the full page's sidebar; opening one puts the search, length and place back. Up to 30.

Export layouts

Settings → Export → Markdown layout: a list with links (the standard) or a section per video are free; with Pro there's also a checklist that ticks what you've watched, a table, a section per video (good for notes apps like Obsidian), or your own line, using {title}, {url}, {channel}, {duration}, {folder}, {tags}, {note}, {saved}, {watched}, {moments} and {id}, with a live preview.
